Hafed is a software consultant at Softhouse in Växjö. His biggest passion in the profession is artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), and the reason why is because it allows him to predict what will happen with little, or even no, information.

Hafed has a master’s degree in computer science from LNU and started his Softhouse journey right after graduation. While studying at LNU, he participated in a guest seminar where he first came into contact with Softhouse. Hafed enjoyed the seminar, and his interest in Softhouse grew. It didn’t take long before he got to know Softhouse, and because of the company culture, the work environment, and the people who made up Softhouse, he aimed to become a Softhouser! 

– The work environment at Softhouse is unique, and the best thing about Softhouse is that as an employee, you get opportunities to develop and improve yourself both professionally and personally. You are genuinely seen by your colleagues, which feels nice. The mentality at Softhouse is to bring everyone together, which gives a sense of belonging from day one at the company, says Hafed.

Today, Hafed is working on a project where he works as a Backend developer/Data engineer at IKEA. He is part of the Risk Analytics Development Team and enjoys his mission.

– There are challenges in all projects and at different levels within projects. An example is debugging old code. Another example of project challenges is understanding the requirements based on how the customer sees the solution. There is a difference in perspective from one person to another, so I think it is essential to focus on how the customer sees their vision of the solution.

Business Intelligence is the future

Hafed has a great passion for AI/ML, but he is also interested in data visualization and business intelligence because says more than text. Visualizing data and creating data-driven decisions through Business Intelligence is part of the future. But when talking to Hafed about this, he highlights that he has a new passion within the field that he is happy to spend time learning more about.

– Recently I also became interested in blockchain development. Blockchain has developed at lightning speed since 2008 and is today more than just a part of our financial services. I think this field of expertise will be the next big thing on the market and something many developers will want to get really good at, says Hafed.

New assignments generate new knowledge

When we ask what the most enjoyable part of Hafed’s job is, he answers that the best feeling is when the code works flawlessly and when a customer is satisfied with the solution. But he also loves a good challenge. 

– But the best thing about being a consultant is undoubtedly the opportunities for new experiences, and new assignments mean new skills. I also appreciate being a consultant at Softhouse; you apply and live by your values: Team, Simplicity, Courage, and Passion. Softhouse works hard to maintain a high “TEMP,” he says, smiling.

Finally, we ask Hafed if he has any hidden talent. He quickly and succinctly answers that he is too social to have a hidden talent from his colleagues at Softhouse, and all his colleagues can probably agree.
