Referral Story: Viktoria & Nick– vänskap som stärker Softhouse

This is the second referral story about two friends and colleagues and how their friendship strengthens Softhouse.

We often hear that we at Softhouse have a strong sense of community and belonging. That we are a workplace where employees’ personal and professional relationships are intertwined into a tight-knit network of cooperation and support. This story, about Victoria Haapaoja and Nick Wedzinga who are close friends privately, both studied at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) and spent a lot of time together both before Nick applied to Softhouse and now as they work together, is a fine example of how these bonds not only enrich the individual work experience but also help to create a warmer, more welcoming workplace for everyone.

From classroom to workplace

Victoria and Nick’s paths first crossed at Blekinge Institute of Technology, where both shared a passion for technology and innovation. Their friendship, strengthened through common interests and experiences, took on a new dimension when Victoria recommended Nick to Softhouse – a workplace she had come to love.

Recommending Nick felt like a natural step. He not only shares our passion for technology but also enhances our workplace with his drive and sense of responsibility, Victoria explains.

Softhouse culture through a friend’s eyes

Nick, who had already heard about Softhouse through his circle of friends, including Victoria, became interested in the company’s reputation for strong leadership, good benefits, and a social, engaging work climate.

Hearing from a good friend about how well they enjoy their work really makes a difference. It inspired me to become part of Softhouse, says Nick.

Furthermore, Nick shares that his experiences since he started have not only met but exceeded his expectations, reflecting the impact we believe in when it comes to recommending a friend as a colleague.

Professional development and community

Both Victoria and Nick have found unique ways to contribute to and grow within Softhouse. Victoria, as a full-stack developer, has not only expanded her technical skills but also her involvement in corporate culture by participating in the well-being group and sharing her knowledge with students. Nick, on his part, has made significant strides in project management and solution architecture and particularly values Softhouse’s encouragement to take initiative and responsibility for his own development.

But Victoria and Nick are more than just colleagues. Working with a friend has enhanced both Victoria’s and Nick’s experience at Softhouse.

It adds an extra dimension of joy and community to our workday. There’s always room for laughter and support, which makes Softhouse an even more inviting place, they share together.

The referral story of Victoria and Nick highlights how workplace friendship can flourish in the right environment and how it can positively affect both the individual’s well-being and the company culture. Creating and building an environment where employees come not only to work but to grow, both professionally and personally, along with friends is a dynamic we embrace and encourage. This, in turn, creates a strong, cohesive, and engaged workforce – we code the future!
