TechMeet Luleå: A New Initiative to Strengthen Community in the Tech Industry
Luleå’s Luleå’s tech community is now coming together to boost inspiration, networking, and new connections. The initiative, TechMeet Luleå, is driven by Softhouse and several other local players aiming to build a stronger, more connected tech scene in northern Sweden.
The idea for TechMeet Luleå was born in the fall of 2024. At Softhouse, the need to bridge the gaps between tech companies in the city had long been apparent—whether it’s startups, consultancies, product companies, industry players, or public sector organizations.
“There’s an incredible amount of talent in Luleå, but we rarely meet across company boundaries. We wanted to take concrete action to change that,” says David Granström, CEO of Softhouse in Luleå.
A Casual Meeting Place
That’s exactly what TechMeet Luleå is intended to be—a space where industry peers can connect in a relaxed setting. The first event will be an after-work gathering featuring tech talks, open conversations, and opportunities to build new relationships. The ambition is for TechMeet Luleå to take many forms in the future—from informal meetups to larger conferences.
“We want this to feel welcoming, informal, and fun. It’s not a heavy conference—it’s a chance to meet, talk, get to know each other, and hopefully leave a little inspired,” says Veronika Eriksson, designer at Softhouse and one of the minds behind the concept.
Building Community—and the Future
Behind the initiative lies a bigger vision: to strengthen Luleå’s position as a tech city. By fostering relationships, showcasing talent, and building a shared identity, the organizers hope to encourage more people to both stay in and move to Luleå.
“This is just the first step toward something bigger. We want people to feel that Luleå is a vibrant tech city where you can grow and thrive. That’s not something we can build through marketing—it’s something we build by bringing people together,” says David Granström.
Open to Everyone in Tech
TechMeet Luleå is open to anyone working in tech—regardless of role, experience level, or employer. Developers, designers, project managers, testers, data engineers, architects, and other professionals are encouraged to take part. The goal is to create something long-term, inclusive, and genuinely worth looking forward to—again and again.
“We hope local companies will help spread the word and encourage their teams to join. The more, the better—and it’s together that we shape the culture we want to see,” says Veronika Eriksson.
