Softhouse full-service agency Milou is nominated for the Swedish Design Award 2021 with the film Do you finance your child’s drug use?

Karlskrona and Kalmar Agency Milou Communication are nominated for the Swedish Design Prize in the competition category Moving Image / Film Information. The competition entry, the two-minute-long film, was part of a larger anti-drug campaign with Karlskrona Municipality as the client.

Milou’s mission was to increase awareness among parents and guardians about the situation with drug use in Karlskrona.
– A communication challenge was to avoid cues, guilt and the classic message about how dangerous it is to use drugs. The solution was a visualization of situations from the brutal reality, stripped down and raw, says Tobias Dahl strategic project manager at Milou.

Today, drugs are seen as harmless luxury drugs and are available for anyone to buy. Cases of drug dealing in Karlskrona have attracted attention among students as far down as year six. The contact between seller and buyer takes place undisturbed via the mobile phone during school hours or from home in the family’s seemingly safe corner. The teenager can live in two completely different worlds where the pressure to raise money and the fear of threats is enormous.

In close collaboration with the police, the school and the social administration in Karlskrona, Milou has been able to take part in situations from reality, dialogues between young people and traffickers and investigations into young people’s drug habits. The target group has been alerted to signals to look for with the message: what are you really seeing, a school-tired teenager or someone who smokes cannabis? The campaign Are you financing your child’s drug use? and the nominated competition entry with the same name went on social media, on buses and billboards in October and November last year.

Voting starts on September 13 at www.designpriset.se and the winner will be announced on October 14 at Berns in Stockholm.

About the Swedish Design Prize

The Swedish Design Prize is a competition open to everyone in Sweden who works with graphic design, design, communication and similar creative areas. The competition is divided into Editorial, Information, Identity, Advertising, Digital, Image and Event with thirty-five different competition categories. The prize was established during the Design Year 2005. The competition’s organizer is Batteri Kommunikation AB.
